👋 Hello everyone and welcome to the Geojo Community! We are absolutely thrilled to have you on board.
Before we dive into climate change, satellite data, and storytelling, let's take a moment to break the ice. This platform is all about sharing and collaboration, and the best way to start is by finding out who is behind the screen.
Whether you are a student, a seasoned data journalist or completely new to the geospatial world, please tell us a bit about yourself:
-
Who are you and where are you joining us from?
-
What is your background? (Journalism, data science, environmental studies, design, etc.)
-
What sparked your interest in geojournalism? Is there a specific environmental issue, tool, or story you are passionate about?
🗺️ Don't be shy! We can't wait to meet you all and start this journey together!
Hello everyone, I'm Susana Martins Marques. I'm from Portugal and work at Nova Information Management School at Nova Lisbon University. I'm the GEOJO project coordinator.
My background is Environmental Engineering and GIS.
I'm interested in Geojournalism, because I believe that professions should adapt to modern technologies and journalism is no exception. Since I have a background in GIS, I've implemented this in this project, connecting GIS and Journalism, to create stories with meaning and maps.
Finally, I can't wait to get to know all of you and start working together!
Welcome 🙂
Hello!
I'm Eleonora and I'm an educational specialist for Dataninja, one of the partners of the GEOJO project.
I'm a data scientist with a specific interest for Data Visualisation and Communicating with Data (we'll meet in webinar #3).
Geojournalism allows me to unite this passion for Data viz and communication with important yet complex topics such as Climate Change
Really happy to be part of this project!
Ciao!
I'm Matteo Scannavini, from Bologna, Italy. I work as a project manager and trainer for Dataninja, an Italian company specializing in digital education, and I’m also a freelance journalist. Having a background in Digital Humanities and Investigative & Data Journalism, I’m interested in geojournalism as a tool for telling stories that weave together our environment and our society in a rigorous and effective way.
We'll meet in webinar #3, see you soon and welcome aboard!
Hello
My name is Anila Haliti.
I am studying graphic design and I am currently in my second year. I’m really excited to be joining this webinar. I am especially interested in climate change and the environment, and in my application I specifically mentioned storytelling as something I want to explore through design.
Hello!
My name is Arbnora Bytyqi, and I am joining from Kosovo.

Hello!
I’m Rita, joining from Lisbon. I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Data Science at Nova IMS, where I first heard about this project.
My background is in Economics, and I’ve recently developed a strong interest in geospatial analytics, it's been one of my favorite parts of the course so far. I’m really excited about the idea of combining data analysis with storytelling to create meaningful insights, especially around environmental topics.
I don’t have experience in journalism or environmental studies yet, but I’m very curious and eager to learn more about both.
Hi everyone!
I’m Njomza Osmani from Kosovo, currently studying Law.
I’m interested in environmental issues from a legal perspective, how laws and policies shape real change, and how these topics are communicated to the public.
Excited to learn, exchange ideas, and be part of this experience with you all!
Hello,
My name is Maltinë Islami.
I’m currently in the final year of my bachelor’s studies in Graphic Design, in Kosovo. Joining the Geojo project is a great opportunity for me to deepen my interest in environmental issues and climate communication. I’m particularly drawn to how design can translate complex topics into clear, engaging visual stories that resonate with people. Through this project, I’m looking forward to developing work that is not only visually compelling, but also meaningful and impactful.
Hello everyone,
My name is Rajmonda Bytyqi, and I’m joining you from Kosovo.
I come from a background in English language and literature, and recently I’ve become increasingly interested in environmental issues, especially how they are communicated and explored through media and journalism.

Hello everyone,
I’m Suela Lohaj, joining you from Kosovo.
Currently studying Business and Management, with a strong interest in how businesses operate, deal with challenges, and create value in a competitive environment.

Hey everyone!
I’m Esra Plaku from Albania, currently in my third year of studying Business Informatics. I love anything fun and am curious about everything. Not only computer oriented, Im also an artist 🙂 Check out my digital art portfolio here
What I enjoy even more than creating is bringing people together. At 20, I organized two TEDx events, basically turning ideas into experiences and giving them a stag
I’ve also dabbled in writing about environmental issues. If you feel like exploring that side of me, here’s a research project I made at 17 (fair warning: it’s in Albanian) Combustion fuels and their impact on the environment
Really glad to be here, grateful for the opportunity and excited to learn more!
